How is Electricity Billed?
Thai electricity billing uses a progressive tiered rate system managed by PEA (Provincial Electricity Authority) and MEA (Metropolitan Electricity Authority). The more you use, the higher the per-unit rate.
Residential Rate Structure (2025)
- 0-150 units: ~3.25 THB/unit
- 151-400 units: ~4.22 THB/unit
- 401+ units: ~4.42 THB/unit
Additionally, there's a monthly service charge (38.22 THB) and 7% VAT on the total.
What is the Ft Charge?
Ft (Float time) is an automatic adjustment reflecting fuel and power purchase cost changes, revised every 4 months.
